We are hiring - Catering Assistant

The Kitchen Assistant will assist in the day-to-day provision of catering services in the centr stage café, bar, and function rooms. Under the daily supervisor of the head chef and hospitality manager. You will also assist in the provision of the highest level of professional customer service, food and beverage service and health and hygiene practice for students, staff, guests, and commercial visitors.

Main Duties:

  • Undertake all kitchen tasks, as requested by the Hospitality Manager and Chefs

  • Complete all scheduled tasks within the required times

  • Work as part of the team ensuring all staff are treated with dignity and respect

  • Keep the kitchen clean to the required standard

  • Fill in due diligence records daily

  • Maintain good hygiene practices in the tasks performed as per infection control procedures

  • Observe Health & Safety regulations at all times

·       To assist with all catering services provided in the main Servery, at Centr stage or private functions and when required.

·       To make sure all equipment & utensils used are in a safe, hygienic working condition, and report any areas of concern to your line manager or senior supervisors.

Cleaning and H&S Compliance

·       To comply with all Food Hygiene and Health & Safety Legislation & COSHH Regulations, and develop a positive and proactive approach to training, administration & record keeping that may be necessary, and to always show due diligence.

·       To maintain the cleanliness of all catering service areas including the Servery, centr stage, function rooms and back of house.

·       To abide by all company and legal food safety standards. 

·       Ensure that all new procedures comply with food safety policy.

·       All Employee relations issues are dealt both professionally and legally in a fair and reasonable manner.

·       Must attend all H&S, Fire and Food Training (if necessary) as directed by designated Line Manager.

·       Ensure that while you undertake your role you abide by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and safe systems of work appropriate to your role. In use of chemicals, it is your responsibility to comply by COSHH.

·       Understand the importance of adhering to company policy with reference to   Hazard spotting, first aid reporting, and reporting accidents.

·       To have a complete understanding of company procedure in the event of a fire

·       To maintain food preparation standards and cleaning of equipment when required

·      To be positive & professional when communicating with members of our community and guests, always.

·      To respond to guest queries in a timely and efficient manner – taking responsibility for dealing with issues to resolve them professionally.

·      To undertake such duties as required from time to time that may be reasonably expected within the level of the role.

·      To have a flexible approach to working hours and to be prepared to provide cover if requested.

·      Work in co-operation with all the departments on site at Production Park. Develop and maintain effective working relations with colleagues.
