Primarily taking place in the Warner Bros Stills Theatre, the Academy of Live Technology provided practical training to 35 unemployed people from Hertfordshire looking to gain experience and employment within the TV and Film industry. The training involved building a truss, creating a stage, setting up all the lighting and getting an overview of the transferable skills needed to start a career in production.
Fully funded by Government, Skills Bootcamps are free and flexible short courses for adults looking to gain sector-specific skills to enhance their employability.
And the support doesn't end with the course, candidates were sent open vacancies and have been given opportunities of employment for a period of 6 months.
This course, backed by Clarion Futures, the charitable foundation of Clarion Housing Group which owns and manages thousands of homes locally, Hertfordshire LEP and The Academy of Live Technology is immensely important for the local community and opens a pathway to employment for people who may not have previously considered this type of work.
Donna Donaghey, Employment Support Officer at Clarion Futures, said: “Working in the film and TV industry can seem out of reach for many people so it’s been fantastic to team up with Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, Hertfordshire LEP and the Academy of Live Technology to provide this opportunity for local residents. Together, we have given them the springboard to an exciting future in the industry, and I’ll continue to support those who took part in the course as they embark on job interviews and the next stage of their journeys.”
