The film, funded by Wakefield Council, accompanies a new mini exhibition at South Elmsall Library Museum, which marks over 25 years of innovation here at Production Park.
Over 25 years ago (before we became a live experience campus) our site was originally home to Litestructures, designers and manufacturers of stages. It was a very different time in the industry, before technology drastically changed the live landscape and production was more construction, with a majority male workforce.
Fast forward to 2024 and it’s a completely different scene. Production Park is now a global hub and network, a springboard for complex international tours, a focal point of collaborative R&D, and a pioneer of industry-led education.
The crews creating these shows are far more diverse too, as shown in the new film in which women working here talk about their role in the industry, what they’re passionate about and what the live experience landscape looks like now.
Our story has also caught the attention of ITV who visited by the park and the exhibition recently – watch their report here.
Lee Brooks, CEO & Founder Production Park, said, “We are really proud of our 25 years in South Kirkby and the fantastic clients we have hosted here over that period. It’s especially pleasing to see the film showcase the incredibly talented women who work on the park and the contribution they continue to make towards our success. Having ITV come along to profile what we are doing here on the Park is the icing on the cake!”
Debbie Powell, People Business Partner at TAIT comments, “We’re so pleased to be part of the ‘Women of Production Park’ exhibition at South Elmsall Library, showcasing the work and careers of some of the many talented folks we’re proud to have on our team. We believe that you “can’t be what you can’t see” and so it’s really important to show the next generation the brilliant roles across our industry, that are available for all”.
The Library exhibition also features objects lent by global leader in live experience TAIT and Production Park. It includes the Egyptian Cats from Katy Perry’s BRIT Awards TV show, a unique scale-model from Sam Smith’s Gloria tour and Hugh Jackman’s customised Yorkshire Tea when he visited the park for his 2019 tour.
To see the full film and exhibition, head to South Elmsall Library. It’s on until April 2026.
